No, you do not need any operating system (OS) pre installed. NETAVIS Observer comes as fully bundled DVD which includes a customized OS. The operating system and NETAVIS Observer will be installed automatically.

4 different versions of NETAVIS Observer are offered:
- 32bit bundled
- 32bit unbundled
- 64bit bundled
- 64bit unbundled
Bundled means with OS.
Unbundled means without OS.
For this you need to have:
- High level level linux knowledge
- NETAVIS Advanced Training
- NETAVIS Unbundled Training
NETAVIS Observer is able to handle SAN storage, yet only in unbundled Version |

NETAVIS provides its software NETAVIS Observer by default as package including the operating system.
The benefits are obvious:
- No costs for the operating system
